Schaffer Specialty Welding has been producing replacement wear parts for the mining, construction and agricultural industries with great success. We have combined the latest hard facing technologies with the best quenched and tempered abrasion resistant plate available. One of our specialties is the fabrication of heavy perforated plate for the screening of aggregate. Other products include:

We also fabricate Grizzly Bars overlaid with tungsten carbide producing the best bar on the market. Schaffer Specialty Welding uses an automated welding system to insure its quality and uniformity in its Grizzly Bars. We use tungsten carbide particles with an 800 Brinell hardness deposited into a hard facing weld with a 600 Brinell hardness. This combination is deposited on to a base metal of 400 Brinell. Most grizzly bars are 1” to 3” thick. We customize every order to your specifications on geometry and thickness.

Schaffer Specialty Welding can help replace screen box frames. We recommend the use of our quenched and tempered 400 Brinell plate for frames that require constant replacement. Send us your prints for a prompt quote.

Applications

Due to the combination of consistent through hardness, high strength, workability, and toughness, HARDOX wear plate is the obvious choice for applications in which wear had previously given rise to problems. The high wear resistance of the plate increases the useful life of components such as tipper bodies, excavator buckets, crushing mills and similar equipment.

The hardness of the plate is achieved by effective quenching in our water quenching line. This method enables high hardness to be achieved in spite of a low content of alloying elements in the steel. The resulting wear plate is easy to machine, bend and weld.

Based on your drawings and instructions, we ensure that HARDOX wear resistant steel is bent, drilled, cut, welded or milled as required.

HARDOX Material Grades

HARDOX wear plate is available in several hardness levels: HARDOX 400, HARDOX 450, HARDOX 500, HARDOX 550, HARDOX 600 and HARDOX HiTuf. It means that you can always specify a HARDOX steel grade to meet your specific needs.

HARDOX 400 and HARDOX 450 are all-round wear resistant plates. Due to its high toughness, good bendability and weldability, the plates can also be used for load bearing duties in certain applications.

HARDOX 500 is a bendable and weldable abrasion resistant plate which is used in applications that demand higher wear resistance but also require exceptional strength.

HARDOX 550 is a wear plate with a hardness of 550 Brinell and toughness equal to HARDOX 500. It is intended specially for heavy wear applications and targeted toward users and producers of wear parts using 12% manganese steel castings or 500 Brinell wear plates. The additional 50 Brinell you gain in hardness, when upgrading from 500 HBW steels, will increase wear life but not at the expense of structural integrity.

HARDOX 600 is the worlds hardest wear plate with a hardness of 600 Brinell. It is indented specially for extreme wear conditions and competes with wear materials like high chromium white alloy castings, Ni-hards and hardfacing. In spite of its extremely high hardness, the steel is weldable and can be machined as well as thermally cut. For its hardness, the steel also has uniquely high impact strength.

HARDOX HiTuf is a wear resistance plate with extremely high toughness to provide an excellent crack tolerance. HARDOX HiTuf has a hardness of 350 Brinell and is intended for heavy section structural wear parts where extra high demands are applied on the combination of wear and crack resistance.
